Yahoo and Microsoft Expansion to Beat Google's Web Traffic
Web traffic is the
amount of data send and received by visitors to a website. The fact is that the
largest portion of the Internet traffic since mid-90’s is the web traffic.
Mostly companies use advertising in order to increase web traffic. It’s no
wonder then how Google stays on top.
Google is the undisputed king of ‘spartan searching’ adverstising, news and etc.
While it doesn’t offer all the shopping center features of Yahoo!, Google is speedy, relevant, and the largest single catalogue of web pages available today and that’s what users want; a single search engine that delivers important features relevant results, organized, easy to read interface and helpful options to extend or tighten up a search.Google’s had been in control over the internet for the past years. With this, Yahoo and Microsoft now are on the verge of refurbishing their services and websites in order to expand and increase web traffic in new and existing areas of search, advertising, news and broadcasting.

With this, Yahoo and Microsoft now are on the verge of refurbishing their services and websites in order to expand and increase web traffic in new and existing areas of search, advertising, news and broadcasting.
While Google is
having a hard fight to keep its place at the top of the food chain, the two
known search engines had a lot of catching up to do to beat Google’s web traffic.
Both search
engines now are launching different features to beef up web traffic.
Yahoo new launched
services includes:
1. Now
Yahoo partnered by McAfee had featured its latest Searchcan to match Google in
real time link searching. Searchscan identifies three types of risks that
result in Yahoo search results page- ‘Browser Exploits’- Sites that
automatically trigger malicious download when visited and ‘Dangerous
Downloads’- sites that offer potentially dangerous software such as viruses, spyware
or adware; and ‘Unsolicited Email’ - sites that send unsolicited emails or
inappropriately share email addresses with third parties.
2. Yahoo Shine is a new launch; a sub domain of
yahoo.com is beleaguered to streamline its online women (aged 24-54) market.
Through this ‘exclusive for women’ website yahoo is trying to control ad
revenues produced from advertisers who target this profitable demography; a
very great way to increase web traffic.
3. Yahoo
Buzz is a news service, which provides popular news based on the votes given by
members, the searches done on yahoo and emails received. This will surely be a
hit knowing people relates to it in terms of entertainment, sports and others.
Yahoo has this search engine that habitually finds out the current buzz news.
And also Yahoo Buzz entertains articles and videos only from a bouquet of
pre-selected sources, such as Time, Forbes and wired.com, which makes it a
different player.
Microsoft is also catching up to the
advancement by overhauling two of its existing services – MSN Live News and MSN
adCenter, now changed as Microsoft Live Search News and Microsoft adCenter
Community.
1.
Live Search News is directly being a contender to
Google news. It had upgraded its features on home page and the search results
page for more organized and easy to read interfaces..
2.
Microsoft adCenter Community is also a direct
competitor to Google Adwords in the PPC advertising domain. It is a community
portal where the advertisers and other users cannot only contact the Microsoft
employees but also each other to yield better results. The new features in the
community are product/service specific blogs, categorized user forums,
multimedia distribution including video interviews, audio podcasts, training
videos and user profiles.
These
are some of the few innovative strategies by Yahoo and Microsoft to compete
against Google when it comes to web
traffic, profitability and popularity and we could say Google should be a
bit alarm knowing that in time this strategy will work on them and might as
well bring Google to its downfall.
